Brilliance and talent at a young age is an accomplishment and a gift that you can’t put a value to. Being Sri Lanka’s first representative in F4 (Formula 4), Yevan David is a 17-year-old who has just one goal in life and that is to carry the flag of Sri Lanka to Formula 1 racing. Born in the United Kingdom, Yevan then moved to Singapore at the age of 4 where his journey on the race track began.
Finding his passion for racing at the age of 6, Yevan fell in love with the sport because of the indescribable feeling of being able to go super-fast but also be relaxed at the same time. Ever since, he has made history in the racing arena. He won his first race and championship at the age of 10 and moved to junior level competition at 12. He was placed second in the Rotax Asia Championship and at 13 years, Yevan was placed 13th overall in the IAME Winter Cup in Valencia, Spain. In the year 2017 he was crowned the X30 Asia Championship which to Yevan is his greatest achievement thus far.
Yevan is currently competing in the F4 Spanish Championship where he was the first Sri Lankan to gain points in F4 history. The fuel behind Yevan’s success is none other than his passion for racing and the support he receives from both his friends and family. “The support from them is indescribable. They give me the space I need, the support I need, and the encouragement I need”, says the young racing prodigy who is determined to make his mark and put Sri Lanka on the international Formula 1 Racing map.
Yevan’s career in racing has just begun and a long path awaits ahead of him. But he has already begun making inroads and caught the attention of principals of some of the biggest names in the racing circuit. His fan base especially in Sri Lanka has also grown significantly, as he moves levels in the racing circuit.
